Where it all begins

  The team will be a recreational league flag football team in the Washington DC area starting in the year 2023 to be named the Washington Federals.    

 Our home field will be in the Washington DC area.    

 In flag football, players wear flags. The defenders try to pull the flag off the offensive player with the ball.  A member of the defensive team removes a flag from the ball carrier to end a down.  Contact is not permitted between players.   

 Flag football players score points by moving the ball across the goal line. The team with the most points is the winner.   

  Flag football is similar to American gridiron football with tackling replaced by flag-pulling. Tackle football rules are changed or simplified to reflect the more recreational nature of the game.  The rules are designed to avoid physical contact and injury.  There are a smaller number of participating players per side.   

 A coin will determine which team kicks off first.  

  Players will kick, carry, or throw the ball.  

   Touchdowns are 6 points, extra points are 1 or 2 points, and  a safety is 2 points.
